GAMUT is a new premium perfume brand that offers four unique scents: Elysium, Inferno, Nirvana, and Allegro. Each scent is designed to evoke a different mood and emotion, from blissful to fiery, from serene to lively.
GAMUT aims to capture the essence of life in its full spectrum, and to provide its customers with an unforgettable olfactory experience.
We were thrilled to work with GAMUT on their brand identity project. We were responsible for creating their logo design, color palette design, design strategy, packaging design, and promotional video. In this blog post, we will share with you how we approached each aspect of the project, and what inspired us along the way.
Logo Design
The logo of GAMUT was inspired by the water droplet and the sunshine reflection that are made on the top of the sea. We wanted to convey the idea of liquidity and brightness, as well as the contrast between the calmness of the water and the intensity of the sun. We used a simple and elegant shape that resembles both a drop and a diamond and added a gradient effect to create a sense of depth and dimension.
Color Palette Design
The color palette of GAMUT was based on the four scents that they offer. We chose four distinctive colors that reflect the personality and mood of each scent, as well as the ingredients and notes that they contain. Here are the colors and their meanings:
Elysium: A light purple color that symbolizes bliss, harmony, and tranquility. It is also associated with lavender, one of the main ingredients of Elysium.
Inferno: A dark red color that represents fire, passion, and energy. It is also related to cinnamon, one of the main ingredients of Inferno.
Nirvana: A bright green color that signifies peace, balance, and freshness. It is also connected to mint, one of the main ingredients of Nirvana.
Allegro: A vibrant cyan color that expresses joy, vitality, and creativity. It is also linked to citrus, one of the main ingredients of Allegro.
Font Selection Process
The font selection process of GAMUT was based on the following criteria:
The primary font should be a display font that is distinctive, elegant, and expressive. It should reflect the premium and diverse nature of the brand, as well as the personality and mood of each scent.
The secondary font should be a sans-serif font that is simple, clear, and readable. It should complement the primary font, as well as provide contrast and balance to the design.
After browsing through various fonts online, we narrowed down our choices to two fonts that met our criteria: Athina and Lexend.
Athina is a fancy display font that features a unique and stylish design. It has a geometric and symmetrical structure, with sharp edges and curves. It also has some decorative elements, such as dots and lines, that add some flair and charm to the letters. We chose Athina as our primary font for GAMUT, because we felt that it matched the logo shape and color palette of the brand. We also liked how it conveyed a sense of sophistication and creativity, as well as a hint of mystery and intrigue.
Lexend is a simple sans-serif font that features a clean and modern design. It has a uniform and consistent structure, with smooth edges and curves. We chose Lexend as our secondary font for GAMUT, because we felt that it complemented the primary font and the logo shape of the brand. We also liked how it conveyed a sense of clarity and simplicity, as well as a touch of elegance and professionalism.
We used Lexend for the name of each scent on the top side of the box, as well as for the slogan of GAMUT on the promotional video. We used Athina for the name of the brand on the middle of the box, as well as for the description of each scent on the back side of the box. We think that these two fonts work well together and create a stunning brand identity for GAMUT.
Design Strategy
The design strategy of GAMUT was to create a brand identity that reflects their vision of offering a premium and diverse range of perfumes that cater to different tastes and preferences. We wanted to showcase their quality and uniqueness, as well as their versatility and adaptability. We also wanted to appeal to their target audience, which is mainly composed of young professionals who are looking for a sophisticated and modern perfume brand that can suit their various moods and occasions.
To achieve this goal, we followed these principles:
Simplicity: We used minimalistic and geometric elements in our logo and packaging design, to create a clean and elegant look that conveys professionalism and refinement.
Contrast: We used contrasting colors and shapes in our logo and packaging design, to create a dynamic and eye-catching look that conveys diversity and excitement.
Consistency: We used the same logo shape and font across all our design elements, to create a cohesive and recognizable look that conveys unity and identity.
Packaging Design
The packaging design of GAMUT was inspired by their logo shape and color palette. We created four different boxes for each scent, using the same drop-shaped cutout on the front side, but with different colors and patterns on the background. The cutout reveals the bottled inside, which has a matching color and shape with the logo. The back side of the box has a brief description of the scent, along with its ingredients and notes. The top side of the box has the name of the scent written in a fancy display font called Athina, which we chose as our primary font for GAMUT. The bottom side of the box has the name of the brand written in a simple sans-serif font called Lexend, which we chose as our secondary font for GAMUT.
Promotional Video
The promotional video of GAMUT was created using 3D animations and appealing backgrounds that enhance the visual appeal of the brand. We showcased all four products in one video, using different scenes and transitions that match their colors and moods. We also used some sound effects and music tracks that complement their themes and atmospheres. The video starts with a close-up shot of each bottle, followed by a zoom-out shot that reveals their boxes. Then, each box opens up and releases a burst of perfume vapor that forms into different shapes and symbols related to each scent.
